Getting ready to organize a team building but do not know how to go about it? A good start is to do your research. Inquire about every individual’s interests and limitations in terms of the activities to be executed, the subject matters to be discussed, and the food to be served. Take note of their positions and job roles in the organization, as well. Be aware of the real objective of the session so you will know the kinds of activities to prepare.
Come up with games and activities, both indoor and outdoor, that shall allow everyone to collaborate with one another, communicate, and earn each other’s trust. Do not forget to execute the appropriate ice breakers to put everyone in the mood and condition them to become more open and participative.
Participants would normally prefer to have their team building far from their workplace. It should be a completely different environment where they could focus on their goals and not fuss about their work or personal troubles. Always have a back-up plan or what is sometimes called a Plan B, C, and perhaps D, too.
Incorporate in the agenda debriefing exercises that shall let them uncover their hidden strengths and help them address their flaws so they can be better team players. Consider having a recreation and leisure period where they can enjoy the company of one another not only as co-workers, but also as new-found friends. This way, they are able to rest and just be themselves before heading back to the work scene.
